BahirDar University Art School Campus
Ethiopia, a major East African country located in the Horn of Africa, is divided into 9 administrative regions. Bahir Dar, which the capital city of the Amhara region, is located south of the Lake Tana. The Campus on the riverfront of the east side of city which developing based on current vision plan of Bahir Dar University, an Art School Complex was planned within the Campus.
The complex is divided into 4 sections: Event, Public, Education and Accomodation. Event section have a Performing & Visual Arts Center. The center has a main multipurpose hall, a mini performance hall and music and dance performances halls one for each. In addition to this, there are temporary and permanent exhibition areas interrelated with foyer areas.
Public section forms the entrance of the compound. It is a gateway where the other faculty students can access to the Blue Nile Riverfront. Also, it is the main square of the faculty building with the Performing & Visual Arts center and a landmark called the Dance Above Clouds has been designed in the square.
In the education section, there are faculty buildings consisting of two buildings. Among the departments grouped as Visual Arts and Performing Arts are Sculpture, Dance, Theater, Cinema, Music, Graphics, Photography and Painting. Within the faculty building, a social center on the ground floor integrated with the square and other open spaces for faculty students, classrooms in various parts of the building, main library, workshop and archive, lecture rooms and administrative are included. Divided buildings provide a courtyard for different activities.
Accommodation section consists of student dormitories, dining hall, indoor physical activity hall and open spaces for various activity.
